SCHOOL COUNCIL NEWS – Spring Term

KEEPING UP TO DATE.

  • One of the things we were asked to organise as a school council was to re-instate the pond in the wooded area to a pond once again full of water, plants and pond life.

Whoopee!! We’ve done it!

The pond has been lined properly, trees cut back to allow more light in and the pond made safe with some hedge layering around it. A very big thank- you to Mr Selway, for all his help with this job to make sure that we have done everything properly, with a view to supporting a habitat for our ‘Great Crested Newts’.

  • We were also asked to make it possible for children interested in gardening, a space in school to grow things.

Whoopee!! We’ve managed to organise this as well.

We are making a designated space for growing edible products and also flowers. Mrs Halls is working very hard on the organisation of a Gardening club, which will run every week, at lunchtimes in school.

  • The school council wanted to make our school council badges personal to Jeavons Wood.

Whoopee!! We’ve done it!

We had a competition in school for all children to enter a badge design. Our winning design has now been made up into a new School Council badge.

What’s next?

  • We would really like to run a School Council stall at the summer fete on June 9th.

We are going to run a bottle raffle. We will put lots of different bottles, from bottles of water to bottles of wine in plain bottle bags. We will sell raffle tickets before the day of the summer fete and on the day everyone can come and collect their prize. Everyone who buys a ticket will win a prize – What will it be though?

We will be asking for your help with this. We need as many bottles as possible. It doesn’t matter what they are a bottle of, but they can’t be empty!

LOOK OUT FOR MORE OF OUR SCHOOL COUNCIL NEWS.
