We will be preparing for sports day on the 17th June. Focussing on the skills Mrs Field taught us last term, we will be refining and practising for the big day!
We will be working closely with a PE specialist to learn new athletics skills which will set us up well for our sports day in June.
In dance we explored the weather, thinking about and creating movements to represent different weather conditions. We worked in both canon and unison in groups to choreograph our own weather dances.
We will continue our unit of work on Gymnastics which was cut short by our Christmas play! We have been looking at different types of jump, 1 foot to 1 foot, 2 feet to 1 foot and 2 feet to 2 feet. We will also practise leaping and jumping between equipment. Finally we will put a series of leaps together to form a short routine to show to our fellow classmates, who will be asked to feedback on our performance.
In indoor PE sessions we will start to explore gymnastics, making simple shapes with our body and balancing. We will then move onto using the low level apparatus with beams and mats and create a series of linked moves. Our class mates will watch our performances and feedback stars and targets.
We will work as a team, using space effectively and passing a ball between partners. We will play team games, sending and receiving balls and thinking about what effective team work looks like.
We are lucky enough to have a specialist football teacher in for half a term to help us with our football skills, passing and dribbling and understanding the rules of the game.
In dance we will choreograph our own Little Red Riding Hood dance. We will consider the different ways that the wolf will move compared to those of Little Red Riding Hood. Using different levels and speed, we will perform our dance in our class assembly.
