WHAT A LOVELY DAY!
We all had a fabulous time in Hunstanton with some glorious sunshine. Thank you to everyone who ensured their children had sun cream and hats and everything they needed to make the day a success. The children were delightful and were calm and un-flustered as our first coach had a burst tyre! What an exciting end to our trip! The driver handled it splendidly and the children were quickly taken off the coach onto the new one which arrived very swiftly. We are all very proud of our year 1 children.
MAD SCIENCE DAY!
Today we were all mad scientists! Key Stage 1 children flowed between the 4 classrooms learning about flight, floating and different forces.
The Hedgehogs had a great time in the forest this week. We looked for different shapes and found a range of leaves, flowers, sticks, twigs, grass and much more!
The Hedgehogs were inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso and decided to create their own sculptures of plants and flowers.
We spent today learning about parts of plants. The children made labelled artworks of flowers.
YEAR 1 MULTI-SKILLS FESTIVAL.
We enjoyed trying out a range of sports activities at the Year 1 Multi-Skills Festival at Comberton Village College.
Today we spent the day thinking about growing up! After a morning of role playing different jobs, we spent the afternoon meeting people who do different jobs that help us all.
FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD! THE GREAT YEAR 1 BAKE OFF!
We loved tasting the delicious food that the Year 1s baked and brought in for Mrs Wright to judge.
YEAR 1 TRIP TO THE FARM.
We loved visiting Croxton Park Farm. We saw and learnt about the cows (they can smell up to 12 miles away!), pigs, chickens and the new baby lambs. We loved bottle feeding the 'pet' lambs and even saw a new one be born!
GIANT OUTDOOR ART.
Some of the Hedgehogs and Butterflies made giant outdoor art on the playground.
We enjoyed sharing our phonics learning with parents and carers today.
In this year's fantastic Nativity, the Hedgehog boys were very quiet sheep (sshh!) and the girls were twinkling stars!
WATCH OUT! ZURG'S ABOUT!
Year 1 came into school to discover that their toys had been toynapped! We then recieved the CCTV footage and discovered that their toys had been up to some trouble in the night when we were all asleep...
Congratulations to Riley and Isabella who have been voted to be the Hedgehogs' Class Councillors. Following their rousing speeches, the rest of the class decided that they were the best for the job! They have been enjoying going to the weekly School Council meetings and will soon be feeding back their discussions to the class.
URGENT- CONKERS NEEDED!
We urgently need conkers, pine cones, dried twigs, pebbles etc, for our Andy Goldsworthy inspired art sculptures. We will be putting these together during our art lessons over the next few weeks and need lots of resource to be able to do this. We will soon hold an exhibition of our work so that our friends and family can see our creative skills.
All children need to have their full PE kit in school all week. This should include; shorts, t shirt, tracksuit (top and bottoms) and trainers suitable for wearing outside. We are fortunate enough to have a specialist football teacher working with us this term but for this to happen we need all children to have their PE kit in school. Thank you.
