I hope you are all having a great summer holiday. I think we can all agree that this year has been wonderful for our choir. They have worked so hard and achieved a great deal, so well done!
I have just seen the song list for VIAM 2018 and wow ..it's good! Some brilliant familiar songs mixed with a few new songs, looking forward to it already.
See you all in September!
Wow!! How amazing were the school choir last night. It never ceases to amaze me how good they are and how much they enjoy singing. Thank you to all the parents and family members who brought the children along and also to those who attended the performance.
We are already looking forward to next year's performances...see you there!
Just a reminder that the choir concert will be at 6pm on Thursday 29th June. We expect it to last an hour and tea, coffee and biscuits will be available. We look forward to seeing you there.
Just over a week to go and we are all very excited about VIAM. The tickets arrived today and we will be sitting in in the lower part of the side seating. The children have been rehearsing well and we can't wait to get going.
Any parents that are travelling on their own to the venue will have their tickets sent out before next week, if you have booked online don't forget to bring them with you!
Congratulations to the choir on the Sing for your School song writing competition. Overall we came fifth out of thirty seven schools for most plays , a huge achievement. So thank you to anyone who listened.
The voting has now closed and we will find out within the next few days if we are one of the shortlisted eight schools, these songs are being chosen on their songwriting merits, so please all cross your fingers.
These schools will then take part in the celebration performance on March 2nd 2017.
We will keep you posted.
Back to rehearsals for Voice in a Million from Monday :)
Please keep voting for our school song, the vote is ordered into weekly votes so we do need everyone to keep listening please. Last day for voting is Wednesday 21st December 2016.
Could I ask that all VIAM coach slips come back as soon as possible as I cannot send out the letter giving details of coach cost until we have a final figure for adults travelling on the coach to Wembley. The coach will leave approximately 10.30am on the Thursday morning.
Could I also ask if your child's name could be written on the reply slip as we have two with no name and we are not sure who they belong to.
The school choir song 'We are the children of Jeavons Wood' is now on the website. We need as many people listening as possible please, if we get into the top 10 schools we make the final....
So keep listening....
Wow!! What an amazing concert we had last night. We raised an amazing £286!!!
The choir were as ever fantastic and sang with such enthusiasm and fun. It was so lovely to see so many parents and family members coming to support the children. We are very excited to see how much we have raised to go towards a new lighting system for the school.
As this was such a huge success we plan to have another concert in the Spring term, see you there!
On Monday some of the choir took part in a workshop as part of the 'Sing for your school' competition. School choirs from across Cambridgeshire will be writing a song about their school, these songs will then be uploaded to a website where people can vote. The top 10 songs will be invited to a special concert in March where a winner will be announced.
On Monday the choir was given the letter giving details of next year's Voice in a Million. The children do not require tickets but any parents wishing to come need to return the ticket request form. We also need parents consent by the 28th September please. We will again be arranging coach travel for children and parents to Wembley and we will let you know the cost of this later in the year.
WOW!!!! How fantastic were our choir this afternoon, they sang their hearts out! We were told they had a very nice sound, and they had so much fun taking part in the VIAM workshop.
The children took part in a vocal warm up before showing off their vocal and dance skills singing two songs from this year's concert. Then they had the chance to sing two of the new songs with some children even having the opportunity to use the microphones. Finally we sang the three songs that we had rehearsed and 'Naughty' from Matilda was chosen as the song to video. The children should be very proud of themselves, it was a very hot afternoon and they were singing for two hours!
We will find out if we have been selected to be an on stage choir just before Christmas, so keep your fingers crossed. Even if we are not successful the children worked extremely hard and we will still have a wonderful time at the concert in March.
Next up for the choir is a fundraising concert on the Thursday 10th November at 6pm to raise funds for a new lighting and sounds system so rehearsals will start for that on Monday when year 2 children can join us.
Another fantastic rehearsal today ready for this coming Wednesday's workshop. We will shortly be sending out the permission forms and ticket requests for Voice in a Million 2017 and these need to come back in as by the 28th September please. Don't forget you have the chance to buy discounted tickets, a merchandise pack that we collect for the children and a message of support that will be shown at the arena. This is all found on the form we will send home.
Year 2 children will be given the chance to join the choir from next week, parents of year 2 children should bear in mind that it is a very long day if you would like them to come to Wembley and you would need to be certain your child would be able to cope with that. Saying that we had many year 2 children who joined us last year who had more energy than the adults!
Well we have already had a great start to the new term with our first choir rehearsal. This Wednesday 14th we are all very excited to take part in the VIAM workshop. This may give us a chance to be one of the choirs that are on the stage during the first or second half of the show Keep everything crossed for us.
What a fantastic performance the choir gave this morning at the last assembly of the year for those staff that were sadly leaving us. The children sang beautifully, well done. I hope you all have a great summer and come back ready for our VIAM workshop in week two of the term.
The VIAM workshop planned for the 10th June at 9am will now take place on Wednesday September 14th at 1pm. Any choir members that have not paid the £5 to attend the workshop now have until the end of this academic year (July 2016) to bring in their money.
What a fantastic performance the choir gave today for their parents. They enjoy performing the songs so much and are a brilliant team. Thank you to all those parents who attended we hope you really enjoyed the songs we chose for you.
A letter went home today with details of the Voice in a million workshop which will take place at 9am on June 10th. Could we ask that all slips be returned by Friday 6th May.
Our next performance will be at the school fete..see you there!!
After our fantastic experience at VIAM 2016 the choir have already registered for next year. We have also arranged for a VIAM 2017 workshop to take place on June 10th 2016 where we will be considered for a place on the stage. Each year several school choirs are invited to form part of the stage choir gaining their place through the VIAM workshops, I am sure you would agree an amazing opportunity for the children whether we get chosen or not.
A letter giving more details will be sent out next term.
